How are your feet?

Hello Clan Barefoot,

How are your feet? Summer is here again, and with it comes the time to grow things like leaves, calluses, and even this blog. Having been away for a while, you're probably feeling a little neglected like a garden patch after a long winter.

So, talk to me, how are you growing?

In the spirit of June, while I wait patiently for your response to the aforementioned question, let's talk about gardens, fresh starts, and new growth. Honestly June should be the month we all make those pesky new year's resolutions.

In January, the middle of winter here in the northern hemisphere, we struggle with finding the willpower to make any kind of effective change. What a terrible time of year for fresh starts! But June… now that it is a month for change.

June, we see the fruits of spring come forth, we taste the warm sun bathing our skin, and feel the awakening calls of summer adventure. To you lucky dogs who are getting to answer that last call, I'm jealous.

Ok, that got a little prosaic.

Now for most of you reading this blog, you identify as barefooters. Some of us have had to wear shoes all winter to bear the cold and are just starting to get our calluses back (like myself). Others of you are choosing to walk a more moderate path and leaving the shoes on to protect against burning asphalt and social awkwardness (I feel you, we’ve all been there). Few of you still, never put your shoes on in the first place. Your dedication inspires us all.

This gets me to my point. Remember the question at the top? Have you answered it yet?

It’s ok, I’ll wait ‘till you do.

...

That is good to hear! Now that we know better where you are at we can begin to plan out improvements and try making changes, step by barefoot step. It is June after all, the best time for fresh starts.

Whatever type of barefooter you are, your barefoot mindset applies to everything you do.

Your life is a garden, so try walking it barefoot.
